Ultrasound is a type of medical imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the inside of the body. It is a non-invasive and painless procedure that is widely used in a variety of medical settings, including obstetrics, cardiology, and gastroenterology. In recent years, there has been a surge of research activity in the field of ultrasound, with researchers exploring new and innovative ways to use this technology to improve patient care.
One area of research in ultrasound is focused on the development of new ultrasound devices and techniques that can provide more detailed and accurate images of the body. For example, researchers are working on developing ultrasound systems that use artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze and interpret images, making it easier for clinicians to make accurate diagnoses. Other researchers are developing new ultrasound probes that can be used in different parts of the body, such as the bladder or the prostate, to get more detailed images of these areas.
Another area of research in ultrasound is focused on using the technology to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions. For example, researchers are using ultrasound to detect and monitor conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Ultrasound is also being used to guide medical procedures, such as biopsies and surgeries, and to monitor the progress of these procedures.
In addition to these applications, researchers are also exploring the use of ultrasound for therapeutic purposes. For example, researchers are using ultrasound to deliver targeted doses of medication to specific areas of the body, as well as to stimulate the growth of new blood vessels and tissue.
Overall, the field of ultrasound is an active and rapidly evolving area of research, with many exciting developments on the horizon. As new technologies and techniques are developed, ultrasound will continue to play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions.
Active Projects
Ultrasound probe tracking was performed with a high-precision, mechanical tracking device that provided correct registration between individual ultrasound slices. Project Ultrasound is a 501 c 3 pro life charity that exists to educate the public about the effectiveness of ultrasounds in deterring abortion and to give grants to non-profit crisis pregnancy centers for the purchase of ultrasound equipment and training to help women in their communities get free ultrasound exams. The investigative team has engineered a unique portable device that can easily be inserted at the bedside or in the operating theater quickly, easily and at low cost, allowing for real-time assessment of spinal structures, spinal cord blood flow at multiple levels and patient pathology. However, 3D imaging can provide valuable information with respect to the size, location and irregularities of anatomy for both diagnostics and surgical guidance that is absent in 2D images. Also, placing results in a broader perspective, validity for the median nerve would indicate that other peripheral nerves and similarly shaped anatomical structures can be measured using SWE, opening a new research direction for other peripheral neuropathies.
Ultrasound Visualization Research
There was inclusive and exclusive data due to the lack of required information. A total of 50 patients 29 male,21 female aged from 20 years to 70 years weight between 60 kg to 99 kg , all those complaining of persistent shoulder pain most of them were under gone routine plain s. The study is done for 50 women age between 20-50 years 28 of women 56% were nulliparous and 22 women 44% were multiparous and excluded womenwith uterine pathology, pregnancy and those below the age of 20 and above 50 years. . Although appearances vary greatly, some patterns are typical,, Mucin-containing carcinomas are often circumscribed but may have irreg. With this mobile app, you can find a doctor and find a location. Our group has developed a high-frequency array-based forward-looking ultrasound endoscope, that is suitable for guiding endoscopic procedures and providing depth resolved information.
Research Activities
Using our recently developed high-resolution, forward-looking ultrasound endoscope our group will focus on developing, miniaturizing, and integrating an ultrasonic scalpel into the imaging endoscope. The problem of the study was an incidence of abnormal vaginal bleeding was high among pregnant and non-pregnant women in Um Dwanban administrative area. ABSTRACT Background: Earlier investigations have demonstrated that the accuracy of foetal weight estimation is significantly higher if several ultrasonic foetal parameters are measured, because the total body mass depends on the size of foetal head, abdominal circumference and femur length. Currently available tracking systems limit our ability to precisely register real and synthetic imagery leading to research into improving tracking systems. Ultrasound guidance is also often used for needle localization of some lesions prior to biopsy, as well as for cyst aspiration. On behalf of Ministry of Health Uganda , ECUREI was awarded 122 Student scholarships in 2018 to train Government health workers in Diagnostic Ultrasound 65 , Medical Radiology 30 and Cold Chain Technology 27.
Foundation Funded Research Projects
Making Ultrasound Smart for Localization and Diagnosis of Thyroid Nodules Investigative team Central hypothesis The hypothesis of this project is that deep learning techniques applied to 3D ultrasound images of thyroid nodules will be able to identify those nodules that are highly likely to be benign. ECUREI has also under taken several community Projects as below: Since 2005 to date ECUREI has implemented 7 Rural community health projects through the provision of Ultrasound Machines, health worker training in Ultrasound, Repair and maintenance of the hospital equipment. Potential outcomes and advances The purpose of this research is to develop, optimize and evaluate the efficacy of strain magnitude imaging as a noninvasive ultrasound-based method for prediction of placental attachment abnormalities in pregnant women at risk. This is a longitudinal image of the carpal tunnel with the median nerve indicated by the white arrow. This project addresses the critical area of delivering therapeutics to the skin. The first medically viable histotripsy transducers have been trans-dermal, focusing on ablations mainly in the abdomen liver, prostate but, difficulty in transmitting ultrasound energy through the skull has kept these devices from being used in neural applications.
Medical Ultrasonography Project Topics and Papers
Abstract Breast fibroadenomas are common benign breast tumors and detailed descriptions of their sonographic appearances are necessary for differential diagnosis from other benign lesions or breast cancers. In fact, it turns out to be very difficult to do and rather impractical. New applications of our system require advances in tracking, image processing, and display devices. Ultrasound guidance for such interventions, however, is difficult to learn and perform. The entire surgical procedure is done solely under image guidance. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted mainly in the Radiation and Isotopes Centre of Khartoum and Nilein Medical Diagnostic Center, Academy Charity Teaching Hos. This innovation stepped up the first antenatal attendance from 17% to 87%.
