Abstract Breast fibroadenomas are common benign breast tumors and detailed descriptions of their sonographic appearances are necessary for differential diagnosis from other benign lesions or breast cancers. In fact, it turns out to be very difficult to do and rather impractical. New applications of our system require advances in tracking, image processing, and display devices. Ultrasound guidance for such interventions, however, is difficult to learn and perform. The entire surgical procedure is done solely under image guidance.
