Lao Asia Pacific Brewery Explained
Just for thirst-quenching and the rest is typical adjunct lager. . The company was the second brewer to be granted a beer investment license by the Government of Laos and opened its brewery in Xaythany District, Vientiane Capital City in 2008. Pours a bright blond color with no real head building up. Nice subtle hop and bubblegum. Flavour is nice enough, although a little bland. Drink as cold as possible.
Namkhong Beer has been awarded the Gold Quality Award in 2011 and 2013 at the Namkhong Special In 2014, Namkhong Special 5% ABV was launched with only 640ml bottles. Less hop as well. In 2015, Namkhong Special was awarded with a Silver Award in the Monde Selection quality awards. Topped with 2 fingers of white head with fair retention. No ABV on bottle.
A hint of sweetness, a dash of sour. Amazing smoothness, loving it local, but really not much beyond the smoothness notable about this brew. Heineken Lao Brewery Co. Bottle at a restaurant in Luang Prabang. Tastes watery dull onwards from there, with no taste evolution at all.

Clear filtered and golden, lots of fine bubbles rising moderately slow. The state-of-the-art brewery occupies a 13-hectare site in Xaythany District within Vientiane and with its stringent quality control system, has been awarded with ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 22000 HACCP Food Safety Management System certification.
Namkhong Special is a beer brewed with black rice, which is seen as a nutritious and premium type of rice in Laos. Lot's more sweet grain and less of the more complex elements. S - Sweet honey, sweet grain. Light body with fizzy carbonation and prickly mouthfeel through the palate, finish is rather dry. T - All the same pretty much.

Some corn, a little malt, minute amount of bitterness. A - Poured bright and light golden with good carbonation and a two finger white thin head that was gone in a minute. Tastes supersweet with lots of rock sugar and sweet wheat with a sparkly metallic note from the carbonation. Found in Vientiane, Laos August 21st, 2015 at a restaurant along the main strip by the Mekong. Heineken Lao Brewery is also looking for talents to expand their team. Light, foamy, smooth, really goes down easily, easier than water actually. Has a very light mouthfeel with a well dosed, higher mouthfeel. The beer is commonly known as "Beer Khao Khum" which means "Black Rice Beer" in Lao. Smells of toffee, sugar and corn.
LAPB also imports and distributes ABC Extra Stout in Laos. Again, not much punch to it. Clear golden color with pretty thick foamy white head that stands with decent retention before sinking to some bubble film atop and leaving plenty of sticky lacing patch along the way. No lace or retention. Very easy to drink and very different from the harsh adjuncty lagers of the region.
