I think I read this before because I went through a huge Lois Duncan phase. Lois Duncan presents a ticking-clock mystery with thrills at every turn. How can April give up her name, her friends, her boyfriend Steve, and everything she's ever known? A juvenile or young adult reader may be more entertained by the story, but I was mostly just calling her an idiot in my head the whole time. The family was relocated to Florida and had a hard time keeping their identities secure. I sort of wanted to strangle her. They are relocated to a small Florida town and advised to remain as anonymous as possible. .
Literary treks: characters on the move. Duncan's work is better when it has a tinge of the supernatural. This book was that for me. It was published in 1989 and intended for pre-teen or young teen. I can't believe she died. X-Rated Children's Book Newsletter.
Blinded by their oath of loyalty, the Daughters of Eve become instruments of vengeance. The move is hardest on April, the story's narrator, an eleventh grader who must leave her boyfriend Steve, the upcoming prom, and Steve's graduation without a word of explanation. I absolutely loved the book! I really hope she matures as the story goes on. The values of family, love, and togetherness help each family member to come to terms with the irreversible situation. L Stine's 'Fear Street' series but I personally enjoyed it more than the books I've read from that series.
. They had been there for about two months when they had to move to Florida to live with their dad, this was because the drug dealer had dressed up as a maid and tryed to break into their hotel room. But now, a year later, someone knows. . Stine's 'Fear Street' series. I mean, I can understand the stupid thing she did in the hotel; she didn't really believe they were in danger. On the way back, they suspect they are being followed.
This wasn't an awful read, but it wasn't a very enjoyable one either. I thought that this book was interesting, I liked the intensity of the book and how fast paced it was. One day on his job he found a bag left at the airport with drugs in it, and there was identification in it. This book is about a family who is just like any other family, they go to school, have jobs and the mom takes care of the kids. While he had been pushing on the door trying to get in their bodyguard, Jim, had been just getting home and stopped him from getting inside. At first, it seems like they are actually changing the way guys at school treat them. Her father was working undercover for the FBI and his identity was revealed to a big hit mobster.

I found the family's reactions to having to be in hiding a little hard to believe, though, in that not one of them really blamed the dad for the situation they were in, when it was completely his fault and his pride. After all that blech and being completely unbelievable, it still didn't end happily. Just because it's subtle and not forced down on your throat, it doesn't mean she doesn't change. Overall - would never pick this up again or recommend it out.
I'm glad it's over. Each change brings another, until the characters in the book do not know who they are any longer. . The author used a lot of the same words too much, I think that if she would have used more words to explain it would have been a much better book, she uses the same terms a lot. They are saved, but their bodyguard is killed.

She was really stupid most of the time, and quite annoying. This was a super quick read and overall it felt like a few chase scenes and then it was over. It seems people tend to forget that this book was written 30 years ago, so obviously it's not going to read like a contemporary YA thriller nor will it be extra twisty and unpredictable.
