Divergent is a science fiction novel by Veronica Roth set in a dystopian society where people are divided into five factions based on their personalities and values. The story begins with Tris taking a test to determine which of the five factions she belongs to. Tris is relieved when the test results show that she is a "divergent," meaning that she does not fit into any one faction and has the potential to think for herself. However, this also means that she is a threat to the rigidly structured society and must keep her true identity secret.
Tris decides to leave her family's faction, Abnegation, and join the daring and rebellious Dauntless faction. During her training, Tris meets Four, a handsome and mysterious instructor who becomes her ally and love interest. Chapter Summaries
Tori makes Beatrice promise never to tell anyone about her Divergence—she warns that the government wants to kill off all Divergent people. Tris and Four are then apprehended and brought before the Candor leader Jack Kang Daniel Dae Kim. Tris grabs Christina and Tori grabs the boy, but Marlene falls over to her death. Their love transcends mere physicality, and their separation adds to their distance. Molly walks out of the room, shaking and trembling. She notes that Caleb epitomizes all the typical traits of an Abnegation member, while she struggles to demonstrate selflessness. Natalie also tells Tris to ask Caleb to research serum when Tris next sees Caleb—Tris has no idea why Natalie makes this request.
On the way to class, she is pushed by an Erudite boy, who calls her a "Stiff. Tris wakes up in a tank slowly filling with water, like the one in her fear simulations. Tris is officially a Dauntless member. Since Al had been Tris' friend, she is surprised and angry that he participated in the attack on her. Tris never reveals her status, but Jeanine tells her to let her know if she needs anything.
She sends Beatrice home early, and Beatrice decides that she will enlist Caleb's help in keeping her early departure a secret from her parents. Four returns to Factionless to join his mother's cause against Erudite. The Candor run the judicial system and value truth about all else. Tris goes to Erudite headquarters to visit Caleb. It means she has an aptitude towards more than just one faction. Tris is snapped out of the simulation.
Roth ends her chapter on a note of mystery: clearly, the city needs to be defended, but from whom or what we have no idea. Eric informs them of the initiation process that involved three stages. It is meant for men and women and lists many arts that are suitable for women. This snaps her out of the simulation. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris's family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Eric makes her take Al's place.

In bringing the first novel of Veronica Roth's best-selling trilogy to the screen, director Folks who've read the book will probably be satisfied with the results, while those unfamiliar with the source material may dismiss it as derivative and inferior. Afterwards, Tris and Christina come across the chasm where some Dauntless members are pulling out a body. Tris's ranking rises above the dreaded red line, keeping her right above Al. Yet, she still feels guilty after shooting him in the head.
The walls start closing in on the two of them. She pulls the braking cable just before she hits the wall at the end of the line. She injects Beatrice with a serum. When Christina can barely fight anymore, she tells Eric that she concedes. Four asks her how she got out of there so quickly. Four shows up and fights Eric, bringing him to his knees with a gun to his head. That series' weak, malleable protagonist, Bella, caused young-adult fiction readers to call out for a stronger, less vapid protagonist, who had goals beyond falling in love. . Tris was examined for her physical capabilities; she also had to face various virtually simulated fears; finally, she had to face her own fears. She just says she got Abnegation again. They are then captured and brought to Jeanine.
