But if I kept denying them the formality of a punch line, the audience would eventually pick their own place to laugh, essentially out of desperation. In the reading from the play, Cyrano disrupts the performance showing his bullying nature. At first glance, I thought this was an intriguing idea that could have possibly worked, but then I heard the first absurd musical number that sounded like people were just singing--or trying to sing--their lines of dialogue, but musical lyrics need to be better crafted than normal conversation. . . Even for an 80s movie.

In fiction, irony usually points to a theme or moral in the story. Number One is Walking. It expresses Cyranos individuality and is important to hear because it establishes Cyranos character.

Only near the very end do the events seem a bit rushed and the feelings not quite clear, but the payoff remains strong and satisfying. After she declares her love, C. Joe Wright's direction is fantastic, full of energy with surprisingly great swordfights and always allows the impressive choreography to be seen in all its glory. The nose, though, gives Martin the mark of imperfection he needs to create a genuinely sympathetic character. . I had read that Peter Dinklage was reprising the role of Cyrano a few days ago and I wonder if it was the reason why I rewatched the film. .
