They are still subject to the controlling images of black males as being criminals, and assuming that they are on the path to prison anyway, so what is the use. As a result of observations, the author concluded that black male students are more likely and more severely punished than white students and have fewer encouragements for learning. Under certain conditions it can also be a powerful occasion for identification and recognition.
